When I found out I was pregnant, I cut out alcohol, caffeine and tried to stay far away from people who smoke cigarettes as much as possible. 

I must admit, I did have decaffeinated coffee once on a plane and had a few sips from my husband's coke. But that was all. I don't miss drinking alcohol at all but I do miss drinking my caramel frappucino from Starbucks. I've been drinking those since I was in college, or was it late high school? Anyway, I miss my coffee.

Instead of coffee, I would drink non-caffeinated soda like root beer and sprite. However, I would never finish a whole can in one sitting. I just take a few sips and then I'm done. 

I also miss jogging on the treadmill. I would jog 3-4 times a week before I got really tired from being pregnant. I try to walk as much as possible but some days, that can be hard too. I'm 18 weeks pregnant now and my stomach has been growing a lot in the last 2 weeks. It's noticeable bigger and I can feel the baby move around every night. 

I can't wait to have some coffee after the baby is born! 

I am visiting a good friend soon and wanted to bring something local from South Carolina and give it to her when I see her so I decided to make my own little gift basket that is presentable and plane-friendly.  I used a cardboard box that I had at home and wrapped it in brown paper to cover the exising print on the box. Then I used tissue paper to keep the 3 items I have in place inside the box. I made sure I wrapped each item with some sort of clear wrap to keep the products fresh then I wrapped the entire box with clear wrap and tie it with a bow. It's light and I'm hoping it'll be easy to carry on the plane with no problems. The contents inside include bbq flavored pork rinds, honey roasted cashews and walnuts. I didn't just want to put them in a plastic bag and hand them to her so I tried to make it look pretty. 

Now that I am 4 months pregnant, I realized I need to be prepared for people trying to touch my pregnant belly as my stomach gets more noticeably bigger. I traveled to California for a wedding last week and my father used his two fingers to poke at my belly. I hope that it's not weird that I found it disgusting that he did that to me. I'm not a touchy feely type of a person and never had an affectionate relationship with my father so I was really surprised that he even thought of doing that. I told him I don't like other men touching my stomach and pulled away and he just laughed hysterically thinking it's a joke. Well it's not a joke. I don't like it. I feel violated.

The only man I want to touch my pregnant stomach or non-pregnant stomach is my husband. Why do people feel like they are at liberty to touch my stomach now that I am pregnant? It is still my stomach. They are not touching the baby; they are touching me. 

I read some forums online and discovered some ideas on how to make your point clear; like reciprocating and touching their belly so they know how it feels like or just slapping their hand away. I like the slapping the hand away idea to make it a clear point that I don't like it. I am repulsed by it. I just have to make sure my reflex is fast enough. I feel like if they are going to be rude to me then I have the right to defend myself, even if it comes off as rude to them. I sure hope my father in law and uncles aren't waiting in line to touch my stomach. I might have to bust out some karate moves. 

I don't mind if other women touch my belly. It's just other men who are not my husband! Hands off perverts!

This is my very first pregnancy and ever since the first trimester, I have not been craving meat. It actually made me really nauseous thinking about eating meat so I stayed away from it as much as possible. The things I do crave are cereal with milk, ice cream, cheese, salads and fruits. Occasionally I'll crave some ramen noodles with a crack of an egg. It's kind of an easy egg drop soup for me. I feel like I'm becoming more of a vegetarian since I've gotten pregnant. I guess my body doesn't crave protein as much. 

Before I've found out the sex of my baby, everyone thought I was going to have a girl because I was not craving meat. Well, it's a boy so what you crave does not indicate what gender your baby is. 

I'm so glad I'm on my second semester now. Not only the most risky stage for a miscarriage has passed but I'm also not as nauseous and tired. Today, I actually had the energy to walk 26 minutes on the treadmill. When I went to the doctor's office last week, I was 117.5 lbs. I still have not gained weight since I've gotten pregnant but my baby is now 5 ounces in my tummy. The hospital is not concerned. I have been eating a lot in the last week and I have my doctor's appointment in about 45 minutes. Maybe I've gained 2 or 3 pounds. My starting weight when I found out I was pregnant was 120 lbs. We'll find out soon.

We were craving for dim sum so we researched for places with dim sum near where we were during our road trip and found Dim Sum House is Morrisville. Conveniently located not too far from my highway exit, it was easy to spot the big sign for the restaurant.

The exterior of the restaurant is definitely something you would find in North Carolina. Covered in brick with bold signs, this has got to be the most sophisticated exterior I've seen for a dim sum restaurant.

After being seated as the first customers of their restaurant, they gave us their menu and offered us 4 or 5 different hot tea options, which is great! That's rare. They don't have carts while we were there during the weekdays so our food was fresh to order. I'm not sure how it's like on the the weekends.

The food is great. They don't have shrimp rice rolls/noodles/crepes (seems like every dim sum restaurant calls it differently) during the weekdays so we ordered more har gow. The service was great. We are so happy to find a nice dim sum place whenever we make our way around here. Their address is: 100 Jerusalem Dr, Morrisville, NC.
